First thing was admin jobs. Various communications and birthday cards to write. Keeping up with stuff on the home front has its own challenges when away for 5 months. At 11 am we set off to catch our open topped bus round the sights and roads of Whitby. In our experience these tourist buses areContinue reading “Thursday 9 June. Whitby. Several miles on a bus.”

Wednesday 8 June. Whitby.
Julian got up and went to buy croissants. We chatted over breakfast before our friends had to go. It had been lovely to see them and thank you Kate for all the goodies! We shall enjoy! Otherwise it was a day of jobs . Julian did a co op shop with the trolley, restocking allContinue reading “Wednesday 8 June. Whitby.”
Tuesday 7 June. Whitby.
I was really looking forward to a lie in, but unfortunately as we were on the outside of our neighbour…. coincidentally another Najad 373…..we had to get up to let them out and reposition ourselves on the pontoon. A lot of rope manoeuvres later, we were tied up again and I went back to bed.Continue reading “Tuesday 7 June. Whitby.”
Monday 6 May. Hartlepool to Whitby. 25 nm
The journey today was another tricky one to sort out the timings for. We had 25 miles to go but can only get out of Hartlepool not much later than 11 am and can’t get into Whitby until 1930. Working on 5 knot speed, we only need 5 hours. The wind is in the eastContinue reading “Monday 6 May. Hartlepool to Whitby. 25 nm”
Sunday 5 June. Amble to Hartlepool 42 nm
Today we were heading for Hartlepool. The problem with this coast for us is because our draught is 1.9 m , we are very constrained by tidal heights st both ends of a journey. You have to get out when there’s enough water under you, and you have to get in at the other end.Continue reading “Sunday 5 June. Amble to Hartlepool 42 nm”
Saturday 4 June. Day in Amble.
Today was a day for doing jobs. Refuelling and shopping. It was the Platinum jubilee weekend so the little town was buzzing with loads of people out and about eating, drinking and generally looking as though they were having a good time. We’re in Geordie country now and all the people on the marina wereContinue reading “Saturday 4 June. Day in Amble.”
Friday 3 June. Lindisfarne anchorage to Amble 20 nm
Not exactly the best nights sleep even though the water was flat. Julian had promised one of his “breakfasts” in the anchorage at the Farne Islands so that was an incentive to get going early. It had been an ambition to go there so we were fortunate that the wind was in the east whichContinue reading “Friday 3 June. Lindisfarne anchorage to Amble 20 nm”
Thursday 2 June.eyemouth to Lindisfarne. 18 nm
A bright start. Sad to leave Eyemouth. We had to be away at 8 am in order to get tide enough to exit the harbour. We went out through the Hurkars remembering our night at anchor there… turned right and continued our journey south. The wind was kind and gentle, ENE and only 10 knots.Continue reading “Thursday 2 June.eyemouth to Lindisfarne. 18 nm”
Wednesday 1 June. In Eyemouth
Lazy lovely waking. Secure safe and the sun is on the way . A few more yachts are arriving so needed to help sort lines etc. It’s a lovely thing about sailing that everyone helps everyone else. We all know that it’s not always easy. Some people ( quite a lot actually) are sailing singleContinue reading “Wednesday 1 June. In Eyemouth”
Tuesday 31 May . just outside Eyemouth harbour to Eyemouth harbour. 0 nm
The first hour of today’s trip was not great. The anchorage wasn’t too bad until the wind changed to a more northerly direction, bringing the North Sea swell in. Arose at 0400 hrs It was raining, pretty gloomy and Angelique going up and down like a bucking bronco. There was a line in the skyContinue reading “Tuesday 31 May . just outside Eyemouth harbour to Eyemouth harbour. 0 nm”
