It’s our last day on the island and an exciting one! Alice is getting the ferry over from Liverpool and we’re meeting Wills family. The morning dawned beautiful! A cloudless blue sky and sunshine. It’s definitely not as hot as a week ago and there’s that little feeling in the air that summer is on the way out and Autumn waiting in the wings. Given that yesterday was a right off for doing anything, we had a few jobs left that needed to be sorted before leaving tomorrow. I did some laundry in the little laundrette next to the sailing club and the public toilets. Some of the machines are out of order, some only take English £1 coins and others only take Manx £1 coins… I didn’t have enough of either as all the £5 machines were full😱. No worries some very friendly hairdressers were doing their washing and gave me what I needed… they didn’t even ask for the right change in return! How kind! People here have been extremely pleasant and friendly. That in, I went and bought a couple of things from the coop, before returning for the tumble drying. I have to say I have really enjoyed the camaraderie of the laundrettes I’ve frequented in this trip and it’s a little random thing that I will fondly remember.
We met Will and Alice who arrived at the marina to pick us up. Will had kindly offered to drive us around trying to find camping gaz 907which seems to be in very short supply….. again! We went to loads of different filing stations but to no avail ☹️. We also went to check out the Mount Murray golf course just outside Douglas! This is all in aid of the Dan Dooley competition…… hope all the research makes for a good time next year 🤗!!🏌🏻♂️. We had a wonderful evening with Wills family and a scrummy meal at “The Forge “near Douglas. Thank you all for coming and for making us so welcome on this, your wonderful island. We will be sad to say goodbye.
What I learned today……. we have experienced so much genuine kindness and courtesy on this little island in the middle of the Irish Sea and the gentle way of life here, will be one of the favourite memories of our journey.

Dear Sue and Julien. We have been reading your blog ever since Whitby. It’s a great evening read, short and to the point!! Well done. We love you journey around the UK and wish you all the best for the next leg.
We also feel that summer is on the way out. It’s getting noticeably dark earlier for a start… We have been sailing for the last 2 1/2 weeks, Medway, Calais, Ramsgate, Harwich and then the rivers Stour and Orwell. Now we are turning south towards Brightlingsea and back to the Medway next weekend. We are not sure where to go next year but your trip gives us so many ideas… With all our best wishes. Martin and Erika and Serenity!!
