Tuesday 3 May. Badachro.

A day sorting stuff. Weather gloomy and a bit windy even in Badachro which is A very protected area. We got the dinghy off and the motor… a process we do time after time and which has a particular routine that we’ve developed. Over the years we’ve watched other people doing these things and gradually honed a strategy that works for us. Our reward today was going to the Badachro inn for lunch! Before that we needed to sort s few things. The first was the issue with the plotter. After speaking to Garmin, Julian managed to sort it on the computer. It appeared that for some reason only part of the uk had downloaded, and he had to access “FULL screen “ to enable the “START “ button for the download 🤨. Don’t understand it but anyway its now working. ! Then he fixed the gas by replacing the regulator which does at least mean we don’t have to keep turning it on and off, which is just impossible in heavy seas as the gas is in a locker outside the cockpit. Thirdly I had to go up the mast to investigate some potential problem with the bottle screws on the spreaders( bottle screws hold the shrouds which keep the mast up). Armed with spanners, screwdriver and cable ties ( and a lesson in bottle screw mechanics) I was winched up in the bosuns chair. Fortunately the split pins were okay and in place, but I identified that the left one was definitely a little slacker than the right. Unable to tighten it though. After that we did go the pub at very low water so had to row through a field of seaweed to get there. Great meal though…. well worth it! I had Cullen skink and J had fish and chips 😋Posted cards to the grandchildren and returned to Angelique. Lovely “ normal “ evening watching Masterchef and SUTC bake off!

What I learned today…… how bottle screws work and how to adjust them! whilst suspended in mid air …
