Weather forecasts seem amazingly accurate these days and interesting to follow the pressure charts that accompany them. We went to bed waiting for the storm to come in…. an eerie calm. In the middle of the night we woke to creaking ropes and the gale had arrived. Glad we were “ the right way round “ as it’s good to be pointing more or less into the wind. Aware that our friends were on the sleeper from Euston to Glasgow with a connecting flight out to Barra,we were keeping a close eye on the forecast. In the morning it was still blowing up to 30 knots ( we have an instrument with gauge that measures wind speed at the top of the mast… which we can see in our living area) the visibility was appalling…… couldn’t believe we went all the way to the other side of the bay yesterday in a rubber dinghy 😳! Can’t even see it today. The waves were breaking over the breakwater pontoon in front of us. Horrid!!! We had various messages from Tim and Sue and eventually one saying they were going to set off and that all passengers had been told to go to the loo in case they couldn’t land! I can only think of two reasons for that!😳……….
Well an update on all that. a few hours later… Tim and Sue got all the way through the cloud and rain, the pilot couldn’t see the airstrip ( beach at low tide), so turned around and went back to Glasgow. When you see the pictures out of our back door you’ll see why.! Weather should be improving over next 24 hours so we’re hoping to pick them up from Loch Boisdale. Not really done much today, just generally domestic jobs and some navigation. Hoping 🤞for some of the weather that the south of the uk are having!
What I have learned today………. a very good technique for drying small items such as pants and socks (when attached to shore power) is using m y hairdryer… or positioning them in front of the eberspacher ( air vent👍)

Hope the weather improves for you. Forecast does look better. Keep safe and dry! We have just had a couple of alpine cold wet days but sun shining for our last day. Thought of you yesterday as a dog joined us on our walk in the cloud. Apparently he was a dog who guards the cattle but obviously wanted some company. Stayed with us for an hour or so but then decided to go with a younger faster couple! We got quite attached. Returning home tomorrow then on childminding duties for a couple of weeks. It’s been lovely to be here although we don’t feel people are being quite as careful. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Xxx
