Stayed in Ballycastle
Not exactly a rest day because we had a lot of jobs to do but nice all the same. My lie in and late breakfast slightly marred by us being asked to move the boat as someone had complained that the berth they’d been given was too small for their boat. We just thought the issue was he hadn’t tied it up properly! But heyho we did what we were told and it wasn’t a problem. First job then was to sort out the laundry. The washing machine was free and only £1.00 for the tumble dryer. The marina facilities ( such that they were) were situated inside the tourist information place and the nice lady on the desk was very helpful. She Even put my stuff on for longer when it hadn’t dried after the 1 st pound. It hadn’t dried after the second either at which point I hung it all up in our cockpit as damp out and not a good drying day.
Whilst the attempt at drying was going on, J and I went off to the spar to stock up on essentials. Isn’t Ireland expensive! £5.00 for a block of cheese!!!😳. Was trying to pick up an “ Irish post” too as my lovely friend and Poet Carol had a write up in it. Alas not on sale in NI. Sadly the Spar didn’t have an off licence so as needs must we set off to find the coop a couple of miles away. Returned a bit weary after carrying 9litres of wine and 12 cans of beer! Anyway it gave us an opportunity to see a bit of the town which was busy and bustling with holiday makers on the beach, eating fish and chips and taking trips to Rathlin island.
Jobs completed we did a bit of planning for the next bit of the trip which will take us across the northern channel to Scotland. Gigha first then colonsay and onwards. Probably will be on moorings rather than pontoons and hence the reason for bulk buying!!!
For supper we had THE most amazing fish and chips from the famous Morton’s. One fish supper between 2. Then watched master chef before bed. Be sad to say goodbye to NI….. it’s been great. Love this part of the world.
What I learned today…….. in NI just ask for one fish supper. Definitely enough for two people and includes chips. We made the mistake few days ago by asking for two fish and 1 chips ……..was enough to feed an army!

Nice description of your day Sue. I see that you prioritised the essentials! Have a good trip over to Scotland. Very hot in France. Things seem to be nearly back to normal apart from mask requirements, which aren’t very difficult.
