Knowing we were crossing the Pentland Firth today I was relieved that it had been calm overnight and dawned bright. The anchor Trip buoy wasn’t far away, another reassurance that we hadn’t moved much in the night. Every so often a bit of swell had come in to the bay, but after a few rocksContinue reading “Saturday 22 May. Holm Sound to Wick. 40 nm”

Friday 20 May. Ingerness bay to Holm sound. Orkney. 26 nm
As you can see we’re making our way south gradually. We’re really waiting for Tomorrow when the wind will be a bit more westerly, rather than just south. So woke to bright if not sunny skies. The tide was out and there were people walking their dogs on the beach. Also one person swimming,! 🥶.Continue reading “Friday 20 May. Ingerness bay to Holm sound. Orkney. 26 nm”

Thursday 19 May. Balfour to Ingerness bay off mainland. 5 nm
It’s okay, we only intended to come here today….a short hop and then another tomorrow round to Lamb Holm. Then onto Wick and mainland Scotland the following day🤞🏻. Monday 16 May. Pierowall.
All set to go in the morning but weather not good with winds increased even in the harbour. So we stayed put . It seemed the thing we had to sort out was our problem with having enough data. Very 21 st century problem, just goes to show how we have come so much toContinue reading “Monday 16 May. Pierowall.”
Sunday 15 May. Pierowall.
A sunny day .. what a treat. Not even a cold wind. We spent the morning trying to sort out the funny noise that the water pump has been making over the last few days. This meant emptying the entire locker of its numerous contents and then climbing in. So far it’s not solved, despiteContinue reading “Sunday 15 May. Pierowall.”
