We couldn’t leave Arbroath until about 1130 when the gate opened. It was grey and damp. We got everything ready and eventually managed to pay the HM for our stay. The challenge for us today was that we wouldn’t be able to make the distance in time to get into Eyemouth. If the wind hadContinue reading “Monday 30 May. Arbroath to ( just outside) Eyemouth 47 nm”

Sunday 29 May. Arbroath.
Clouds but a little watery sunshine, so at least inside the cockpit it does feel a little warmer due to the greenhouse effect. We went shopping to Lidl as we were having visitors today. 🤗 It was lovely to see Bill, a good pal from BSAVA days, who lives in Edinburgh. We chatted over coffeeContinue reading “Sunday 29 May. Saturday 28 May. Lunan bay to Arbroath 10 nm
Lovely to wake up in a peaceful anchorage. We left about 9 ish to get to Arbroath for when the lock gates would be open. It was a gentle sail with the wind behind us more or less. Such a Change for us! The only hazard was the fields of pot flags, that went onContinue reading “Saturday 28 May. Lunan bay to Arbroath 10 nm”
Friday 27 May. Peterhead to Lunan bay 57 nm
Peterhead to Arbroath is a long way, and you have to get there in time… so the tidal gates ( physical gates) are open at the other end. We decided that would be pushing it even if we set off very early so decided to anchor In Lunan bay about 10 miles north of Arbroath.Continue reading “Friday 27 May. Peterhead to Lunan bay 57 nm”
Thursday 26 May. Day in Peterhead .
Bright but breezy day. Wind still southerly. It should turn westerly which will be helpful for us progressing south tomorrow. First job was laundry. Our bedding was in definite need of a change and that meant I could wash the other set for visitors Phillps soon! Paid the HM for our stay…. good value atContinue reading “Thursday 26 May. Wednesday 25 May. Whitehills to Peterhead. 40 nm
Another grey and drizzling 0400 start. However at least the wind being from the south meant we had flat water to exit the narrow passage from the harbour and we could put the sails up in relatively flat water. All was going well despite the grey and drizzle. We had one reef in the mainContinue reading “Wednesday 25 May. Whitehills to Peterhead. 40 nm”
Tuesday 25 May. Whitehills to Turriff ( by car)
We had a lie in and breakfast. I then partook of the shower, given we were going out for the day! The HM Bertie, was very helpful. The harbour office and facilities are all being “ done up” so in a state of half “ done up ness”. The shower was fine once the workmenContinue reading “Tuesday 25 May. Monday 23 May. Wick to Whitehills 54nm
A long day but a good day. It had been drizzling overnight so all the decks were wet and it didn’t look particularly inviting at 4 in the morning. However it also seemed calm and for once as we poked our nose out, it was! In fact there wasn’t enough wind to sail for theContinue reading “Monday 23 May. Wick to Whitehills 54nm”
Sunday 22 May. Wick
Today was a lot brighter and less wet! After a wonderful cooked breakfast for a treat it was to be a doing jobs day. Laundry, shopping, various phone calls, cleaning the boat, etc etc. we had established that not much opens in Wick on a Sunday, and therefore was with glee that I discovered thatContinue reading “Sunday 22 May.
