Saturday 20 August. Peel.

The day dawned dreary but dry. Julian got up early and went to the shoprite. Shoprite is actually Sainsbury’s here in the IOM. He also had a look at Peel golf club/ course, before returning home, with (almost) everything on the list! We had hoped that our sailing friends Nigel and Brenda were going to fly in today from Newcastle to see us for lunch, but the weather forecast was appalling, and definitely not a good day for it. Sadly we settled for a telephone call instead ☹️. Nigel did reassure me that all the horses that pull the trams here, eventually go to the home for retired horses here on the island which is great to know and looks like a lovely place 🐴🤗!I went into town for a mooch around, finding lots of things I could quite happily buy but didn’t. Eventually the downpour started and I got soaked getting back the boat as I hadn’t taken my berghouse . The rest of the day was spent reading, writing and generally passing time. The gaz ran out and it was literally hours before J could get out to change the cylinder. No pictures to speak of today! A simple pesto pasta supper and early night!

What I learned today….. it’s a good idea , after all this time, to heed the weather forecast!
