Not a comfortable night! The wind has gone round into the north so there is less protection in the Sound than before. Big waves out to sea are rolling into the channel. Boats being tossed about all over, pitching and rolling on their moorings. The motion on Angelique isn’t great but probably a lot better than some I’m observing. Smaller, lighter boats are bobbing around like corks. It must be horrid inside. We’re also in the row of moorings nearest to the land which I think is beneficial. It certainly wasn’t a day for getting in the dinghy. Going downwind would be fine but getting back against the wind and the waves would be very wet and potentially dangerous. We cancelled our coffee date with Charlie and Don from Stroller, and decided to spend the day doing reading etc. I spent quite a lot of the time just watching things. Some boats actually went out into the horrid weather, presumably to try and find better shelter. One boat moved moorings to try and get one in a position with less waves. Not a great decision I feel as it took them a long time with a lot of gesticulations and shouting to pick the mooring up on the bouncy sea. In the end it didn’t look like it was any better and then a couple of hours later the wind and waves died down a bit anyway! 😳 despite it being really windy, it was quite sunny so not unpleasant to be sat doing not much. I read the pilot for the Isle of Man and Julian contacted Kilmore Quay which is our intended destination when we leave Scilly. We watched the debate between Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak in the evening… interesting??🤔 and had jalfrezi curry for supper.
What I learned today….. to put taxes up or down…… that is the question?????
