Just a short hop across the Solent to Lymington. Breezy still but sunny and the water is an aquamarine blue except where the clouds cast shadows and it looks black. With just the headsail we got to the outside of Lymington in about an hour. Sails away and berthing stuff out, I phoned for berthing instructions in the town quay marina where we’d booked. No . 17 starboard side too. Lymington is where the ferry ⛴ goes to and from the mainland to Yarmouth. There were a few about and of course one coming towards us in the channel, better that than from behind us. ! As we went up the channel there just seemed to be fields of boats everywhere. On marina plans it all looks straightforward and obvious, but if you’re coming into a hitherto Unknown place, they often look very confusing from the water. Still we did eventually pop out into clearer water and the little town quay marina with the pretty town behind came into view. Herringbone berths which are easy to get into and soon we were nicely tied up. Very shortly the friendly HM came along to greet us, with a lovely booklet and good information about eating out etc. As the little town quay marina is right in the middle of the town, it’s easy to access things. Tesco’s express is5 mins up the high st, and just a couple of minutes further….. a wonderful laundrette ! Lymington launderette despite being really busy, took in my big bag of washing and promised to have it done by tomorrow morning. So I hot footed it up through the cobbled streets and up the high st with my trolley. Then back for a shower and they’re great too. Our Friends Simon and Cathy came to visit in the afternoons during we had scones , clotted cream and delicious jam ( thanks Harvey and Margaret!) in a sunny cockpit. An early evening meal at The Ship Inn just on the quayside and 2 minutes from the boat. A great day!
What I learned today….. Suddenly I can’t access my photos direct from the device…. the gallery icon seems to have completely disappeared ☹️
