Thursday 26 May. Day in Peterhead .

Bright but breezy day. Wind still southerly. It should turn westerly which will be helpful for us progressing south tomorrow. First job was laundry. Our bedding was in definite need of a change and that meant I could wash the other set for visitors Phillps soon! Paid the HM for our stay…. good value at £20 a night.. all in. Some marinas you have to pay extra for electricity and most you have to put coins in for showers. Washing machine and tumble drier only £3 each a bargain! Walked into Peterhead which is about 1.5 miles. Slightly run down and uninhabited feel to the town centre. Another bronze statue to a lady of long ago……fisher Jessie, created by Andy Scott to commemorate all the women who supported the herring fishing industry of yesteryear. But I have said enough about that. A shop at Aldi on the way home followed by a shower and chat to Alice in the cockpit. The wind has increased considerably so I’m a bit nervous about our trip tomorrow to Lunan bay. Our next destination is Arbroath, but the tidal gate is tricky with the timing of leaving here, daylight, and tides down the coast. The HM only opens the gates 3 hours either side of High water…. however that’s only when he’s at work 0715 to 1945 . That does make it difficult! So we’re anchoring en route overnight in Lunan bay and then making the rest of the journey ( 2 hours) the following morning. 🤞 for our plan! Cooked a nice pasta, bacon and broccoli supper, now going to bed.

What I learned today…….. that the government has finally decided to do the decent thing and pay people’s energy bills. For a short while.
