A grey day . From start to finish really. First turn on of the plotter told us we were in Senegal ?!?! She sorted herself out and settled down to a new normal. Bounced out into the wind and waves under motor at about 0830. The wind had threatened to change direction and at least weren’t beating north for the first time since the Mull of kintyre. However a roly poly sea with the wind behind is not that comfortable so after having put a reef in the main, we decided to take it down altogether and sail under headsail only. Grey seas and grey skies with grey mist on what coast was visible… doesn’t make good photos! Apologies! We did see lots of puffins our at sea, along with guillemots and Razorbills. The sight of them kept us going and they are so funny when trying to fly along wavy water which they keep bumping into. We arrived in Lochinver where it was surprisingly busy but fortunately we found a free berth in the small marina and some kind folks helped us with our lines. We wanted to go for a pie in the famous pie shop but we’re too tired so hoping to buy some tomorrow. An evening of watching tv …. always a bonus when there’s a signal and a link with normality. And then falling asleep on the sofa ( just like home!)
What I learned today …. Eilean Means Island in Gaelic which is I think a better name for my little puffin, so she has been rechristened!
