Tuesday 26 April. Loch Spelve to Oban 7nm

A very cold bright day. It was a mainly peaceful night but Trixie ( our on board windmill) did start whizzing at one point when the wind got up . These days we usually set the anchor drag feature on the little plotter which beeps if you drift too far outside the designated range. However if it’s not windy at all we just rely on the noise of trixie to wake us ( Julian) . we were greeted by the sound of honking Canada geese and then heard the first cuckoo! It’s amazing to think that little bird had come all the way from Africa where they overwinter. We left the anchorage and as we motored along kept an eye out for the eagles nest. We didn’t see the nest but Alice spotted the Golden eagle 🦅 black against the light brown hillside, soaring gracefully and huge in the big blue sky. What a treat. A lazy sail avoiding a few ferries took us to Oban North pier pontoons. A favourite marina right in the hustle and bustle of the town. A tidy up and A very welcome shower ……a first chance to do a new bruise count! Alice and I went to the station to buy her tickets for her journey on Thursday and then went to do a bit of shopping. She was very pleased with her purchase of a little ceramic wall hanging to go on a particularly bare nail in her bathroom. Discovered farm foods is a lot nearer than Tesco and we can get a lot of basics there… tomorrow’s job. Also on our pontoon is a clipper race boat, taking youngsters out from the charity Our Isles and oceans. Interesting. A lovely peaceful evening on board watching master chef and playing monopoly deal. One issue that we’ve got to sort is the pin that holds the boom onto the mast needs replacing as it’s broken.☹️ glad I didn’t know that while rounding the Mull!

What I learned today…. all about clevis pins 😬
