Bit of a lazy day! Woke to grey skies and hardly any wind! Blissful. Had a brunch of bacon Scrambled eggs and beans ( Alice had halloumi and quorn sausage š³) with pan toasted muffins. Sorted the stern line for the dinghy before putting it on board so thatās another job done. Even sowed a black mark with thread into the painter ( rope at front) to mark exactly where it has to go on the port cleat when itās attached to the back of the boat. š¬. This time of year the light seems very clear and we could see Ben Nevis poking out about all the other peaks as we sailed gently in s 9 knot breeze across the firth of lorne. Our destination was Loch Spelve on the island of Mull. I can only imagine how beautiful it was before they put any fish farms here. It is now full of them. Mainly mussels. Row upon row of buoys presumably suspending ropes of the shellfish. We anchored however in the SE corner of the northern arm which is peaceful beyond belief and just wild. The wind has disappeared for now and left us in a mill pond surrounded by seaweedy rocks, seals and mountains. After a meal of scotch pie and veg, we played monopoly deal …. a favourite of Alices. A quiet and enjoyable day for all of us.
What I learned today …. that apparently there are some golden eagles nesting at the north of the entrance to Loch Spelve. ( not seen them yet!)
