Thursday 22 July. Heather island to Oban transit marina 1 nm

Another beautiful morning and so lovely to be away from it all and yet not far to go. We could see Oban marina through the binoculars and reckoned that the best time to get over there for maximum choice would be around 11 am. Allow people to Leave before main influx occurs. We probably went around 1030 after cooked breakfast. We could see a “ thinning “ of masts! Berthed on our favourite side of the pontoon and starboard too …. a near perfect landing! Today was spent doing jobs as our Lovely friends Sue and Tim are joining us tomorrow for the last week of our trip. They are leaving their car at Troon, then getting the train to Oban. Sadly there has been a fire at Troon station… apparently caused by the intense sunshine through the glass! Such is the heat in the climate today ☹️. We washed and cleaned the boat and the dinghy. I took the laundry to the friendly people at mandarin and it was washed dried and folded within 3 hours. After that a big mission to Tesco’s. We had a big list and had decided the best and only way ( save doing three trips) would be to borrow a trolley. We espied that there was a Tesco’s trolley 🛒 in the trolley bay on the pontoon so felt we should take it back. Did get a few odd/ amused looks on the way but no worries ! As it turned out it was a brilliant idea. It made the shopping so much easier and otherwise it would definitely have been a taxi ride. Which is better for the environment I ask?? We did, of course return it! Eventually all food put away and showers had (before they shut at 8) , we relaxed in the beautiful evening sunshine with fish and chips from a new venture …. the fish box… literally on the other side of the road from the marina gate and only two weeks old. Delicious but it’s always too big a portion!

What I learned today…… to ask for a child’s portion next time
