A grey day. A relatively peaceful night but on waking still same old cloud covering the mountains. Wind still continually blowing down the valley and making the moorings feeling pretty breezy. Not an early early start but set off 9 ish. We put a reef in and motored out of the Loch. Disappointed by the fact that that the must was still thick over the land masses and meant visibility so poor we couldn’t see Eigg at all. It looked brighter towards Skye but we weren’t going there unfortunately! Thank goodness for gps and plotters . The sea was big and blowing up to 20 knots made for a good sail. 😳 nice when the sun shone for a while, especially when we were tacking up the north coast of Ardnamurchan. Martin Lawrence always said “ the seas round Ardnamurchan point can be lumpy “ and he was right! Drizzle and mist came down.we got into the sound of Mull and passed various cal Mac ferries. We set our “go to” point outside Tobermory and arrived knowing we wanted to bag the bakery buoy! A visitor mooring which we’ve been on before which is near the bakery, bookshop, mishnish pub …….and co op! It was vacant yay! So we attached ourselves and relaxed after 48 nm and 9 hours sailing.
What I learned today…….. how to Steer the boat with my foot against the wheel so I could manage to eat a sandwich and not slop my soup all over my face.
