Weather still dry, bright but cloudy. We left Loch Drambuie and pottered up Loch sunsart under a combination of sail and motor. We had made a plan with our friends from Arwen to meet them at Salen Jetty this evening. As we didn’t have far to go we investigated some anchorages that we hadn’t been into on the way. A lot of the terrain in these Scottish lochs and anchorages is rock strewn,. This makes for interesting navigation at times and I’m constantly amazed that anyone was brave enough to be bothered with the challenge before the advent of detailed digital charts that plot your exact location by gps. I apologise for having to admit that.
We had phoned ahead to book our berth as it’s only a small marina with room for about 10 boats plus swinging moorings. Jan has kindly put us on the Hammer head which should have been straightforward…. Once securely tied up I went and bought food from the lovely little village shop for a nice supper for the 4 of us. It’s only going to be spaghetti Bol but haven’t sorted the roast out yet! Strawberries and cream for pud followed by cheese and biscuits. Our friends arrived later and Nigel very kindly helped Julian to sort our WiFi router thing which now means we have better WiFi…. at least if we’re near an amplifiable signal. ( new word?) We had a lovely evening and it was great chatting with our chums Nigel and Brenda over supper and a wee dram….Salen is such a great little marina with everything you could need and the friendliest of welcomes. Thank you.
What I learned today …… all about midges, carbon dioxide and machines that emit it in order to attract the females which are then reduced in numbers so decreasing reproductive ability. Interesting!
