The longest day of the year ! For us a day of many things. As the wind had got up overnight it was a bit disturbed. J had got up to quieten the dinghy. this bay has a habit of looking beautiful and benign but once out from the land the wind whips across ferociously. I soon abandoned any plans of paddle boarding! We had booked lunch at the boathouse so went for a walk first. But before that filled our water carriers and used our trolley for The first time. As we’re not sure when we’ll next be alongside a pontoon. It was THE most beautiful day. Bright colours of blues and greens along with all the flowers are amazing. We walked over to the west side of the island. Spoke to a lady who lived in a self built turf roofed house … so remote above a stunning beach and near a derelict water mill . What community lived there you wonder.? She had a very friendly bearded collie called Rosie.
We got back for lunch a bit before our table was due so took the water back to the boat through the choppy clear aquamarine sea. Getting onto the boat in those conditions isn’t particularly easy. Once back at the restaurant all is peaceful and warm. Sat practically on the beach and ordered delicious sea food. Langoustines for starters then I had halibut and J had monkfish. 😋
After lunch we returned to Angelique and left our mooring in winds blowing 20 knots. Our destination was west Loch tarbert not far but it certainly was a “ romping” sail. Wind on the nose and up to 23 kt. The water is shallow here which meant choppy white water. Eventually entering the Loch of course just as the ferry was coming out. We had ( I had) several minutes of not breathing watching it coming straight toward us……. never get over my ferry panic! We found the most peaceful and secluded anchorage to stick the hook down and enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the longest day of the year. Didn’t even need to cook!
What J learned today…… to make sure the tops are screwed on tight on the water containers……….they had been bouncing around a bit and…☹️
