Friday 18 June Troon

Today was a “doing jobs “ day, getting ready for setting off for the western isles tomorrow. Filling up the water tanks, doing laundry, giving the car a good run as it’ll be sat now for a while…. etc. I went to Morrison’s and topped up our stores whilst J did boat jobs. The weather was beautiful but still a chilly wind blew. We did treat ourselves to a lovely walk along the coast and Julian showed me where the fish and chip shop (Wee Hurrie) was. Also though still closed due to Covid presumably… the oyster bar restaurant which looks great through the window. Do hope it reopens as it’s just by the dock where the fishermen come in, so everything would be beautifully fresh. After showers we had salmon and salad with focaccia whilst watching Scotland vs England in the euros! 0 all draw and not s great game! But Scotland happy they got a point?? I think?!

What I learned today…. that the ballast wall ( part of the walk) was made from bit lumps of stone that were used as ballast in the big ships of old. Interesting!
