It rained all night. There was an annoying drip onto the deck above which kept us or at least me awake . In the morning it had at least stopped but everything is damp yet again. Largs is a big marina and has lots of facilities but big often means a long way to everything toilets, showers etc. We had breakfast, filled up with water and set off. Easier than the arrival! We put in s reef and I used my new mnemonic ( kings men have Pringles ready meal for kings) it worked! The warm wind was behind us and the water flat. We’re definitely not having a heatwave ( like the rest of the country) but at least it’s pleasant ! Our plan today I’d just sail north to Dunoon then left up Holy Loch where there is s little marina but we were hoping to anchor if the wind was in the right direction. Holy Loch has anchorages on both shores ( north and south) so should be doable. The shoreline going north is pretty and with the wind on the quarter we gybed gently up the Loch watching the world go by. Eventually arriving about 2 ish so not a long day, we anchored in Ardmaden bay in about 7 m . A very peaceful place looking straight up into the mountains. After putting the boat to bed I had a nap on deck and Julian did some clearing up downstairs . We read for a bit and just watched the world go by. Not much talking. Supper was simple but a lovely salad and afterwards I got my head round a bit of navigation re our rounding of the mull of Kintyre in a few days time . Everything is now peaceful and perfect….. the water is like a millpond. The anchor light is on.
What I learned today:
It’s a good idea once you’ve finished cooking to shut the galley window ( kitchen window) …. especially if it’s going to rain all night 🙄
