Saturday 5 June Troon to Millport ( Great Cumbrae) 18 nm

We’ve eaten out more in the last two weeks than we’ve done in 18 months! Joined the family for breakfast at Scott’s before they set off home. We hope they’ve enjoyed themselves in our little world for a few days. After saying our good byes, Julian and I went for a wander round Troon. Saw lots of baby eider 🐣 chicks! We needed a new bucket and had been told of a good hardware store nearby. Wright’s home hardware is AMAZING! We will always remember the yellow bucket we bought and I found a brilliant net…… for fishing out things that fall overboard quickly. Like Islas shoe yesterday!! It also had the best range of eco products I’ve ever seen.

Back on the boat we got ready to set off for a night somewhere else. The weather was fair if a bit changeable. Sunny one minute and cold the next. Good news sort of re Julian’s lap top but will have to wait till Monday to see if can be unlocked ☹️. Trixi also started to respond to The iPad. She definitely Wants to keep us guessing. Heading-out from Troon After taking the boat out myself! ( very brave!) my first ever siting of a submarine ! So many times we have gone through “ submarine exercise area” and never seen one! Heading past ardrossan and up towards Kyles of Bute. We were going to anchor in little cumbrae but decided to press on a mile further for a more protected anchorage at Millport.

Picked up the mooring without a problem….. first of the season! And here we are…… drinking wine and enjoying the peace and quiet and the gentle rolling of the waves. Very lucky. Reading in the telegraph about Cornwall and glad we’re up here away from the throngs. Hope you’re surviving down there Rick and Sara! We’ve had wee pies, tatties and peas for supper and are just enjoying the ambience of evening on a mooring.

What I learned today…., that I should always do everything with the throttle lever very slooooooowly . Not fast.
