Seeing the blue sky and sunshine was a real relief as was dreading another day of fog. Fortunately although there was fog out to sea, it never really caused a problem and visibility was good throughout. We started off by making our way to a little pontoon which had a hose on it so we could top up our water. Wondered about the depth as looked shallow but all okay and a good thing to have done. I made Julians day by managing to get a Sunday times, Some fairy liquid and some shortbread 😊 from the village shop, whist he manned the hose. We proceeded out of the beautiful Loch with views of the mountains absolutely beautiful behind us. It’s not far to the top of Rona from the exit of the loch, and thereafter the sound of Raasay. Once we had rounded the northern tip of Rona… marked by a northerly cardinal , we actually put up the cruising chute ( well J did), and I have to say I am getting a bit more trusting of it! We carried it for at least 3 hours, gently cruising down the sound toward Portree….. sun, blue sky and sparkling flat sea….. oh yes …..and dolphins 🐬. Not sure it gets much better. Once into Portree harbour we were slightly disappointed that all the visitors moorings had a label on them saying “ do not use” we presume because they had not been serviced this year. So we anchored looking across to Portree and hopefully will have time tomorrow to have a little explore. Supper on board after sundowners!
What I have learned today………..not to be scared of the cruising chute 😬…… at least in a force 2
