Gigha to Puilladobhrain ( near Oban) 45nm

This might be a bit short as pretty tired after today. The weather forecast has thrown us a bit as apparently strong winds and gales happening in next 48 hour which meant our plan to be in a lovely anchorage in oronsay had to be changed . Too exposed to the wind and a way away from safe haven. Soo …. we’ve come back to one of our favourite places….. unpronounceable from the spelling but sounds like… poldooran. I’ll put pics up. Spent the arrival glass of wine watching a couple of little/ young? Herons on the shoreline. Don’t they have Funny necks! So a lovely sail up the sound of Jura with all the swirling currents which make the surface of the water oily and flat in circles. Coryvreckan is notorious for dangerous whirlpools and standing waves due to sub-ocean terrain. We didn’t go through It ….. just passed it! I’ll have to do it one day! When I’m feeling Brave! So as I’ve just done my navigation homework I’ve worked out we have to be up at 6am !!!! Horrid! In order to catch the tides right for going up the sound of Mull to loch Aline where we will tie ourselves up nice and secure to the lovely pontoon and await the Gale 😳. You can find fossils there of prehistoric oysters! Called Gryphaea. Exciting!

What I have learned today……….

I must NOT forget to concentrate and unleash the main sheet and the kicker when hoisting the mainsail …. ⛵️
