Thursday 16 July

Overnight in porthdinllaen was a bit roly but slept okay knowing it’s good holding in sand there. The lovely Tye cock pub on the beach is apparently closed atm . There was no one on the beach. This summer does seem earily absent in Wales. Fitting that on our late mums birthday we should be anchored opposite a cottage on the beach where they stayed for a holiday before I was born.! We set off about 9 am headed for Holyhead. Wind okay to start with but dropped about halfway so had to put the donkey on. Had lovely cheese and ham rolls and flapjack on the way. Saw loads of Manx sheer waters on our way .South stack lighthouse looked fantastic in the sunny late afternoon. Rang the marina to check on mooring. Interesting that they have not rebuilt the marina here which was devastated by storm Emma in March 2018. That meant we were lucky to get a space on the bit of pontoon that’s left. Quite a lot of wrecked pontoons are still in the water. ☹️. On our way in saw the Lifeboat towing a yacht in ahead of us. Do hope it was just engine trouble and nothing worse. Going to do mushroom tagliatelle for sups then off to the Isle of Mann tomorrow all being well.

Have decided will learn something every day even if it’s something i shouldn’t admit to not knowing.

Today’s : always have gear lever in neutral before starting engine.
